Commemoration
Each year, we honor the 13-day siege leading up to the fall of the Alamo with days of special events and remembrances. The annual Commemoration honoring the anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836 this year starts on February 23 and goes through the first week in March. These events bring the Alamo’s story to life, and honors all those who lived, fought, and died at this Texas shrine.

Education
On March 7, 2025, I addressed the membership of The Alamo Historical Society. The occasion was their thirty-ninth annual Alamo Symposium. The venue was the historic Menger Hotel in downtown San Antonio. The subject was the Sabine Shoot, the subject of my latest book, Texian Exodus: The Runaway Scrape and its Enduring Legacy.
For the convenience of their members, the Society’s officers ordered twenty copies of the book. Even before I arrived at the hotel, they had purchased them all—for which I am enormously grateful. The audience was attentive and receptive. If readers are unfamiliar with The Alamo Historical Society, I urge them to access its website. Any history-minded individual will benefit from AHS’s knowledge, enthusiasm, and fellowship.
