Full Title:
HOUSTON DISPLAYED; OR, WHO WON THE BATTLE OF SAN JACINTO? BY A FARMER IN THE ARMY

As the late historian and bibliophile John H. Jenkins observed, this volume was the “first detailed account of the San Jacinto campaign, other than Houston’s battlefield report, this is also the first account written by a veteran of the campaign.” While undeniably biased against General Houston, most of Coleman’s fellow veterans corroborated his charges against “Old Sam Jacinto.” Moreover, the pamphlet contains information concerning the campaign that appears nowhere else. Seek out the 2020 edition published by the DeGolyer Library and William P. Clements Center for Southwest Studies. It is by far the best edition of this rare text and I would say that even if had I not contributed a scholarly Introduction and added 139 annotations.
